Using the generator
- Do I need an account to generate citations?
- No. Citation generation, format conversion, and bibliography building work without any login and always will.
- Which citation styles are supported?
- APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago, Harvard, and IEEE. Every result can be switched between all five styles instantly.
- What kinds of sources can I cite?
- Websites (paste any URL), journal articles (paste a DOI), books (paste an ISBN), and anything else through manual entry — articles, reports, eBooks, and more.
- How accurate are the citations?
- Source details are pulled from authoritative databases — CrossRef for DOIs, OpenLibrary and Google Books for ISBNs, and the page's own metadata for websites. Always give the result a quick read; if a source publishes incomplete metadata, you can fix any field with Edit or manual entry.
Accounts and saving
- What does a free account add?
- Saved citations, full citation history, projects to organize sources by paper or class, plus tags and research notes. Free forever.
- Can I export my bibliography?
- Yes — copy it formatted, download a TXT file, or export a Word document (.docx) with correct hanging indents, double spacing, and the right heading for your style (References, Works Cited, or Bibliography).
Premium
- What does Premium add?
- Research assistance: the Citation Finder searches 250 million scholarly works by topic, Recommendations turn any claim in your writing into supporting sources, and Paragraph Analysis flags statements that need citations. Premium is also completely ad-free.
- How much does Premium cost?
- $5 per month, or $50 per year (two months free). Cancel anytime — you keep access through the end of your billing period.
- How do I cancel or change my plan?
- From your Account page, click Manage subscription. You can switch between monthly and annual or cancel in two clicks — no emails, no phone calls.
Ads and privacy
- Why are there ads?
- Ads keep the citation tools free for everyone. They never block or interrupt citation generation, and Premium members never see them.
- What data do you collect?
- The minimum needed to run the product: your account email and the citations/projects you choose to save. We don't sell personal data. Full details in the Privacy Policy.
